2 Easy Ways To Identify Your iPad Model

When preparing to purchase an iPad photo kiosk it is extremely important to accurately identify the exact model you have. Failing to do so can result in a misconfigured photo kiosk that will not properly secure and protect your iPad. This can result in poor images and ultimately a bad experience for your clients and their guests.

Thankfully Apple has been keeping a running page that contains every iPad model and the various model numbers that are associated with it. This page can be found on the Apple website.

Now on to the two ways you can quickly identify your iPad’s exact model.

Way #1: The iPad's Back Cover

To locate your iPad’s model number you will want to look at the back of the tablet below the large iPad font towards the bottom (identified below). The model number will be written in a very fine font. This can be challenging to read on some of the finishes such as Space Gray. I find it easier to take a photo with my phone and zoom in on the text there.

2018 iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd generation)

This is the quickest way if you have great eyes or do not already have the iPad installed in a protective device or case. Should this be the case there is a second way that is quite fast also.

Way #2: iOS Settings Screen

To locate the model information about your iPad using iOS you need to do the following steps.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap on General
  3. Tap on About

You’ll find a user friendly Model Name there such as “iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (3rd generation) along with Apple’s official model number. You will find that this model number differs from the model located on the rear cover. In our case the model is A1876 on the back cover and the model number is MTFL2LL/A in iOS.

Using the model on your iPad’s back cover you can now accurately identify your iPad using Apple’s website or you can look under iOS’s Settings to find the official Model Name. With this information you can now confidently purchase the correct configuration for the iPad photo kiosk or roamer you are looking at. Hopefully you are seriously considering Mobibooth’s AuraAura VIEW or Cruise products.
