Snappic is not connecting to the camera

Under certain conditions, the Snappic app can have issues connecting to the Canon M50 mirrorless camera in the Aura M photo booth system. If you run into this scenario please use the following information to successfully connect your camera.

VERY IMPORTANT
The iPad for the system should always be fully charged before connecting it to the camera. This is due to the nature of Apple's fast charge technology where the chargers and iPad battery work in concert to raise the voltage and push more power into the battery. The issue that this causes is due to the fact that TTL logic (used for serial communications between devices) expects a steady 3.3 to 5 VDC. The fast charge can push the voltage as high as 14.7 VDC, this is well outside of the TTL logic's voltage tolerance.

If your iPad is not fully charged please remove it and charge it before attempting to connect to the camera.

If your iPad is charged and you are still having an issue with the app connecting to the camera the following steps will help you establish a connection.

  1. Power off the camera.
  2. Close the Snappic app on the iPad.
  3. Remove the front panel of the photo kiosk.
  4. Unplug the charging cable going into the iPad.
  5. Insert the charging cable into the iPad's charge port.
  6. Open the Snappic app on the iPad.
  7. Turn on the camera.

Upon completion of these steps, you should now be able to select the camera in the Snappic app under accessories.
